Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers is a cricket team in India. The team is represents the city of Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They are the current champion of the IPL. V V S Laxman was led the team in the first edition of the IPL. In second edition, Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist is skipped. They finished eighth position in the first IPL. The team is owned by Deccan Chronicle, a newspaper based Hyderabad. The group earned the franchise from IPL for 107 million dollars. Later, another media group, Group M India picked up a 20 per cent stake in the franchise.

Their victory in the IPL 2009 is to qualify the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20). The team is in the group A in the tournament.
