The Kensington Oval is located on the island of Barbados. It is to the west of the capital-city Bridgetown. Kensington Oval is on of the major sporting facilities, mainly cricket on the island. The ground is locally known as the Mecca of cricket. The ground has 140 years of history. The ground was established in 1871.
Cricket at the Oval began in 1882. Pickwick Cricket Club was owned the ground. Slade Lucas’ visited the island in 1895. They played a match against Barbados here. The first International Test match was held in January 11-16, 1930. The match was between West Indies and England. It was drawn. Kensington Oval was rebuilt for the 2007 World Cup.
The ground capacity is 28,000. It is the home ground of Barbados.
